NOTICE: Many events listed here have been canceled or postponed due to the Covid-19 emergency. It is best to call ahead or check with organizer's websites to verify the status of any local event.
Since temporarily closing the museum, we have encouraged community members to Create in Place. Now we invite you to share your creations with us to be featured as part of an upcoming exhibition at NUMU!
Art in the Time of Corona (opening December 2020) is an exhibition of artworks, in various mediums, that were created during the COVID-19 pandemic and respond to the state of the world during these exceptional times. This special exhibition will provide a rare opportunity for visitors to experience an incredible range of art from NUMU’s network of creatives including previously exhibited artists, teaching artists, and our artist friends and supporters.
And we invite YOU to share what you’ve created because Art in the Time of Corona will also feature the artistic creations of COMMUNITY MEMBERS, people of all ages and creative abilities. As we have found ourselves with extra time on our hands, many of us have taken the opportunity to invest that time into artistic endeavors. Whether to sharpen skills, explore new mediums, ease anxiety or perhaps simply to pass the time as a distraction, many of us have taken up a new or neglected artistic practice. Whether you’ve painted a picture, written a song, poem or play, sewn a quilt or mask, launched craft projects, picked up a camera, or made a dance video, we want to see it!
Community entries will submitted and displayed digitally in the exhibition, so no need to worry about postage, shipping, delivery or leaving your sheltering place to participate. Please submit your entries early and often and share this “call for submissions” with your friends and family to invite them to Create in Place and share what they make! And stay tuned for more exhibition details in the coming weeks.
**Submission guidelines for working artists will be posted in the coming weeks. Please stay tuned for details.**
